What is RestAPI.com?
RestAPI.com is a fully managed backend-as-a-service. It gives you a database, authentication, storage and instant REST APIs, so you can build and ship applications without managing servers or writing backend boilerplate.
How fast can I get an API running?
Most teams have a documented, production-grade REST API live in just a few minutes. Describe your data in plain language when you create the API and AI generates the collections and relationships for you — then refine them in the schema editor or directly as JSON. The endpoints, interactive docs and live CLI are generated automatically.
Do I need to write any backend code?
No. The database, REST APIs, and authentication are generated for you. When you do need custom logic, you can add serverless TypeScript functions that run right next to your data.
Which authentication methods are supported?
RestAPI.com ships with a hosted login page covering nine identity providers: email & password, passwordless one-time email codes, passkeys (WebAuthn), Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, Vipps, and any OpenID Connect provider such as Auth0, Okta or Keycloak. Authentication is JWT-based, with OAuth 2.0 token endpoints, PKCE for native mobile apps, and service accounts for server-to-server access. Role-based access control lets you authorize requests per collection and HTTP method, with row-level security policies for finer-grained control.
Is my data portable, or am I locked in?
Your data is always yours. You can export your full database schema, all your data and your stored files at any moment — no tickets, no waiting. On top of that, your APIs are standards-based, with a live OpenAPI spec, a built-in REST explorer, a full CLI and Git deploy pipelines, so your backend fits into the tools and workflows you already use.
